Keep your SMS when you change phones
SMS is where bank alerts, bill reminders, booking confirmations and some important conversations live. Move to a new phone without a copy and it starts empty.
What you have, and where it lives
Usually one copy, in one place. That's the part we fix.
| What | Where it usually is |
|---|---|
| Bank and card transaction alerts | Your phone's SMS inbox |
| Booking and delivery messages | The same inbox |
| Messages from older relatives who don't use chat apps | The same inbox |
| Government and utility notices | The same inbox |
How it usually gets lost
- A phone is lost and with it years of transaction alerts you'd use to check a disputed charge.
- Moving to a new phone, the messages don't come across.
- Messages are cleared to free space, including ones you meant to keep.
- A factory reset to fix a problem removes everything.
What we back up
You choose what goes up. Copy one stays on your phone or laptop; copies two and three go to two storage providers you choose, one of them on another continent (Mumbai or Hyderabad if your data must stay in India).
Android
Full SMS backup, including your existing message history. The app reads SMS directly.
iPhone
New incoming messages from the day you set it up, through an Apple Shortcuts automation (iOS 17 or later) that passes each received message to the app.
Received messages, from setup onwards
iOS doesn't let any app or shortcut read your existing message history, and the automation only captures messages you receive, not ones you send.
Encrypted
Messages are encrypted on the phone before upload.
Setting it up on iPhone
- Open the Shortcuts app and go to Automation.
- Create a new automation and choose Message.
- Choose “Run Immediately”, so it doesn't ask each time.
- Add the action that sends the message to triplicate.
Good habits, with or without us
- On iPhone, set up the automation on day one. It only captures messages received after that.
- SMS is not a reliable record on its own for important things. Save statements and letters as documents too.
- Check the backup has run before resetting a phone.
- Print the recovery kit you get at setup and keep it with your other important papers. Your files are encrypted on your phone before upload and we can't reset your passphrase, so the kit is how you get back in.
How it works
- 1
Pick what matters
When the app launches, install it on your iPhone or Android phone and choose: photos, the folders you want, contacts, your mailbox. Nothing else leaves your phone.
- 2
It runs on its own
New photos and files are encrypted and copied in the background; email every few hours. Nobody has to remember.
- 3
Get it back
New phone, deleted file or lost laptop: restore everything, or bring back one document from version history.
What it costs
Prepaid, minimum ₹200 a month
You pay for the storage you use at the rates of the two providers you choose, with a ₹200 monthly minimum. Top up by UPI, card or net banking. No auto-debit, no card on file. Prices exclude 18% GST. How pricing works.
