Every year's return, and the proofs behind it
Filing is a few hours a year. Finding last year's proofs when a notice or a loan application asks for them can take much longer. Keep each year's papers together, in three places.
What you have, and where it lives
Usually one copy, in one place. That's the part we fix.
| What | Where it usually is |
|---|---|
| ITR acknowledgements and filed returns | The income tax portal and email |
| Form 16 from each employer | HR portals and email |
| 80C proofs: PPF passbook, premium receipts, ELSS statements, tuition fee receipts | Spread across apps, email and paper |
| Rent receipts and agreements for HRA | A folder, or a WhatsApp chat with the owner |
| Capital gains and interest statements | Broker and bank emails |
| Donation receipts | A drawer |
How it usually gets lost
- The income tax portal keeps your filed returns, but not the proofs behind the deductions you claimed.
- A question from the department arrives a few years later, and the receipts were on a laptop since replaced.
- Form 16 from an old employer can't be downloaded any more, because your HR portal access ended.
- A home loan application asks for several years of returns and Form 16 at once.
What we back up
You choose what goes up. Copy one stays on your phone or laptop; copies two and three go to two storage providers you choose, one of them on another continent (Mumbai or Hyderabad if your data must stay in India).
A folder per year
Keep each financial year's papers in one folder on your phone or a Windows or Linux computer, backed up.
Receipts
Scan premium receipts, rent receipts and donation receipts with the bill scanner.
Back up the mailbox where Form 16, statements and acknowledgements arrive.
Sharing with your CA
Send one document with a link that expires.
Good habits, with or without us
- At filing time each year, put the ITR acknowledgement, Form 16 and every proof in that year's folder.
- Download Form 16 and payslips from your employer's portal every year, while you still have access.
- How long to keep tax papers depends on your situation. Ask your CA if you're unsure; this is general information, not tax advice.
- Print the recovery kit you get at setup and keep it with your other important papers. Your files are encrypted on your phone before upload and we can't reset your passphrase, so the kit is how you get back in.
How it works
- 1
Pick what matters
When the app launches, install it on your iPhone or Android phone and choose: photos, the folders you want, contacts, your mailbox. Nothing else leaves your phone.
- 2
It runs on its own
New photos and files are encrypted and copied in the background; email every few hours. Nobody has to remember.
- 3
Get it back
New phone, deleted file or lost laptop: restore everything, or bring back one document from version history.
What it costs
Prepaid, minimum ₹200 a month
You pay for the storage you use at the rates of the two providers you choose, with a ₹200 monthly minimum. Top up by UPI, card or net banking. No auto-debit, no card on file. Prices exclude 18% GST. How pricing works.
