House papers that won't be ruined by one wet monsoon

Property papers are the documents families worry about most and back up least. They're kept as originals in a cupboard or a trunk, and the copies are photocopies of photocopies.

A house with a tiled roof beside an open folder of deeds tied with red tape, a plastic sleeve and a stack of copies.

What you have, and where it lives

Usually one copy, in one place. That's the part we fix.

WhatWhere it usually is
Sale deed and the chain of earlier deedsOriginals in a cupboard or bank locker
Khata, mutation or patta papersA file with the sale deed, if you're lucky
Property tax receiptsA drawer, one year at a time
Home loan sanction and closure lettersEmail from the bank
Rent agreements, as owner or tenantEmail and a folder
Society share certificate and NOCsThe society office and your cupboard

How it usually gets lost

  • Water gets into a ground-floor room during heavy rain and the trunk of papers sits in it overnight.
  • Termites and damp eat into papers in a cupboard nobody opens.
  • A property sale or a loan needs the earlier deeds in the chain, and nobody remembers which relative has them.
  • The home loan closure letter was emailed to an address that's no longer in use.

What we back up

You choose what goes up. Copy one stays on your phone or laptop; copies two and three go to two storage providers you choose, one of them on another continent (Mumbai or Hyderabad if your data must stay in India).

Scans of every page

Photograph or scan each page of each deed into a property folder, encrypted before upload.

Family vault

Put the property folder in the shared vault, so a spouse or children can find it.

Tax receipts by year

Snap each year's property tax receipt as you pay it.

Sending to a lawyer or bank

Share one document with a link that stops working after a while.

Good habits, with or without us

  • A scan doesn't replace the original deed. Keep originals in a dry place, in plastic sleeves, or in a bank locker.
  • Certified copies of registered documents can usually be obtained from the sub-registrar's office, but it takes time. Your own scans are faster.
  • Scan every page, including stamp papers and annexures, not only the first and last.
  • Print the recovery kit you get at setup and keep it with your other important papers. Your files are encrypted on your phone before upload and we can't reset your passphrase, so the kit is how you get back in.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick what matters

When the app launches, install it on your iPhone or Android phone and choose: photos, the folders you want, contacts, your mailbox. Nothing else leaves your phone.

  2. 2

    It runs on its own

New photos and files are encrypted and copied in the background; email every few hours. Nobody has to remember.

  3. 3

    Get it back

New phone, deleted file or lost laptop: restore everything, or bring back one document from version history.

What it costs

Prepaid, minimum ₹200 a month

You pay for the storage you use at the rates of the two providers you choose, with a ₹200 monthly minimum. Top up by UPI, card or net banking. No auto-debit, no card on file. Prices exclude 18% GST. How pricing works.
